Pinterest has launched a new initiative as it moves away from its past as an inspiration shopping site to become a hub for creator content. Called Pinterest TV, the feature consists of live, original and shoppable videos covering topics such as food, home, fashion, DIY, and more.
With new social media platforms such as TikTok quickly becoming popular amongst the younger generation, Pinterest’s image pinboard experience has started to look a bit dated. As such, the company is investing $20 million in Creator Rewards to incentivize creators to make videos, as well as providing them with other tools such as those for enabling affiliate links, partnering with brands on sponsored content, product tagging etc. in order to monetize their content.
